Age and Vaccination
Puppies can start the course once they’ve had their second vaccination, usually around 10 to 12 weeks of age. This allows them to safely join the indoor sessions in a clean, controlled environment while beginning early learning during this crucial socialisation period.
Before moving to the outdoor sessions, all puppies must be fully vaccinated, typically after their third vaccination at around 14 to 16 weeks of age. Proof of vaccination is required before Week 5 to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every puppy.
Why Join Puppy School
The first few months of your puppy’s life are a powerful window for learning and emotional growth. This course offers clear, expert guidance to help you manage everyday challenges such as biting, settling, or overexcitement, while building your puppy’s confidence, focus, and self-control.
Each class is fun, informative, and easy to follow, giving you practical skills you can use immediately. You’ll also learn how to support your puppy through normal developmental stages, including fear periods, so you can protect their confidence for life.
How the Course Works
The course follows a simple, proven structure divided into two parts to give your puppy a safe and balanced learning experience.
Weeks 1 to 3 are held indoors at 31 House Avenue, Mangere Bridge. These sessions focus on calm handling, confidence, focus, and early social skills. The indoor space is clean, secure, and designed for young puppies still completing their vaccinations. Each class runs for 45 minutes and finishes with a short Q&A, giving you helpful routines and simple exercises to continue at home.
Week 4 is a short break, giving you time to practise what you’ve learned, reinforce routines, and finalise vaccinations so your puppy is ready for outdoor adventures.
Weeks 5 to 7 take place outdoors in nearby parks, where puppies learn to focus and stay calm around everyday sights, sounds, people, and other dogs. Each session runs for 60 minutes and ends with a Q&A to support ongoing progress. If the weather is poor, classes are safely moved indoors to ensure comfort and consistency.
Registration and Payment
The course fee is $300 per puppy. You can choose to pay in full before the first class, or split the payment into two parts, half before Week 1 and half before Week 2. Full attendance is required to complete the course, and non-payment by the due date may result in your place being offered to another family.
Because training doesn’t stop after Puppy School, families who complete the full 7-week program receive a 10% discount on any future training within one year. This is a bonus reward for your commitment and continued growth together.
